This is a fine looking sword with a very attractive blade. This sword was presented to Eli Bangs, Jr by Co.E of the 5th Delaware Vol. He was a 1st Lieutenant. It is an original Civil War foot officerâs sword & scabbard. This is the leather and brass scabbard version that was used by a Civil War officer. It has the original leather and brass scabbard present with an excellent look. The back of the blade has the "US" lettering still visible in the center. The guard and pommel cap are each made of brass and they have a wonderful untouched tone. You can see the original gold gilding on the pieces. This is a fine looking original Civil War foot officer sword & scabbard. You don't see them this nice very often these days!
