Civil War Letter Pvt. Williard Cooke 37th MASS.
Item #: CS179
This is a letter that was written by Private Williard Cooke of the 37th Massachusetts Vol. The letter consist of letting the family know everything is OK. And to also let them know whats going on. It mentions General Jones. And it tells of some items he was receiving. At the top of the letter it has Camp Briggs Pittsfield AUG 29th 62. The letter is written in ink. And is in real good shape. The story about the flag pieces is that it is from a flag with 35 stars. Which would of represented our 35th state West Virginia. The photo you see is a COPY of a period CDV. All this is in a hard cover that screws together. If you want pictures of the letter sent to you say maybe you can translate it a little better let me know. I would be glad to send them to you. But a great way to have a Civil War letter. And not have a lot of money tied up in it.
